Orlando’s Milk District could soon see the revitalization of the long-vacant Hoods Up building, with plans in the works for a new restaurant at the site. Developer Craig Ustler of Ustler Development Inc. has filed a request for a variance with the city to include on-site parking as part of a potential transformation of the historic property.
While the restaurant concept is still in the early stages and not yet finalized, this development signals a possible new chapter for the 1950s-era former gas station and automotive garage.

When Atrium got the listing for this iconic and historic property, we knew it would be newsworthy and not an ordinary real estate transaction. The Hoods Up property has been the object of speculation for years — lots talk of what it could be, what it should be, and who might eventually do something with it. Because Atrium is heavily invested in the communities where we operate, we care about what the neighborhood has to say about projects like this.
A year ago we launched a minisite to get people’s opinions and input on the Hoods Up project. Of course, the buyer of the property would ultimately decide what to do with it, but we wanted the community to feel involved and have their voices heard. As developers and brokers and property managers, we know how important community support is. We aim to create meaningful relationships in every project we undertake — it’s just part of who we are.
