“Unflinchingly honest and remarkably candid, Matthew McConaughey’s book invites us to grapple with the lessons of his life as he did—and to see that the point was never to win, but to understand.”—Mark Manson, author of The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck
Q: Who recommended this book? Why?
Michael: Adam recommended I check this out, and he told our leadership team as well. Within a week the entire team was buzzing about it, and I couldn't not check it out. It is incredibly entertaining, and it is chock full of amazing insights from a life well lived by Matthew McConaughey.
Q: What lesson(s) did you learn from the book & how will you apply it to your business?
Michael: Take every opportunity that gets you closer to your goal. I loved the story about how he met the movie producer at the bar, and it turned into a fun night out, which turned into his first acting role. It's amazing how those little life moments can make such a huge difference in your course. Don't miss an opportunity that is sitting right in front of you!
Q: What is your number one takeaway from this book?
Michael: Keep working on you, and reinventing yourself. I love how this entire book chronicled the different phases of Matthew's life. How the book followed his life from his first acting role, to doing any move that came his way, to only working on the projects that he is truly passionate about. I can see this same type of thing happening in my life and career and it is amazing to learn from someone who has already achieved so much success.
